National Coastwatch Institution
NCI Rame Head – Manned by local volunteers, we watch over the coast and cliffs along Looe Bay, Whitsand Bay and Plymouth Sound 365 days each year 0900-1800 (or dusk if earlier) working with HM Coastguard, RNLI Lifeboats and RNLI Lifeguards to help protect and preserve life at sea.
We offer free current weather conditions, sea state, radio and AIS checks for anyone using the sea on Maritime VHF Channel 65
We are also always on the lookout for volunteers to help man the station, for as little as 3 hours per week.

BEach ALERT – SE Cornwall - This is NCI Rame Head’s latest initiative to broaden our reach to the general public by offering advice on coast and water safety in Looe Bay, Whitsand Bay and Plymouth Sound. We recognise that many beach goers may not be familiar with local conditions. We use Facebook to provide up to date information about the conditions on our coast as well as general water safety advice.

BEach ALERT – SE Cornwall
The strong winds will whip up the tides bringing high tide in quickly and closer. Always keep an eye on the tides and don't get caught out by the incoming tide. Tidal cut offs are quite common on our local beaches which can result in the RNLI and Coastguard being called out to rescue the unwary.
Always take a means of communication with you and call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you get into difficulties
Respect the Water - BE ALERT!
